Biography Goto Top

I am a graduate of Darüşşafaka  Lisesi , a boarding school in İstanbul, Turkey. I had my B.Sc. at Middle East Technical University  in Ankara  and my Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C., Canada . I worked as a research assistant in Gebze at Marmara Research Center of TÜBİTAK, (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey). Then I joined the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science of Bilkent University in Ankara.

I received Sedat Simavi Science Award. See  BilNews ve Matematik Dünyası and the ceremony.

Married to Zehra Tülin Sertöz, documentary film director.

Children:
Emre Can (1989) at  Bilkent  and at  Berlin, and an excerpt from the Acknowledgments section of his dissertation.
